I seriously enjoyed this book, and I eagerly anticipate the next one. Stephen Renneberg is a master at writing action scenes, and he is masterful with plot devices at well. The only criticism I can really provide is that he sometimes uses so many characters that it is difficult to keep them straight. He tends to offset this by periodically reminding you of the importance of the various elements of the story however.Although it is not necessary to follow the Mapped Space series, I suggest reading another book from this author, "Mothership", as a prequel to Mapped Space. It does provide a deeper understanding of The Intruders.

In Earth Service Mapped Space Book 2 eBook Stephen Renneberg Reviews
This is a great science fiction full of action story. I have just finished "The Mothership" and could not believe the author wrote both books. One book (this one) was great and the other was boring. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I greatly enjoyed this book. The first in the series was good, and I was eagerly awaiting its sequel, checking Mr. Rennerberg's website on a regular basis hoping for an update on its availability. This book was even better. I sincerely hope that Mr. Rennerberg continues to expand this series, the setting is rich and ripe for expansions, and the characters and plots drew me in. I couldn't put it down.
I wish I could find science fiction books like this one every day, but then I would never get anything done around the house.
This is, again, a well written book by Stephen Renneberg that takes twists and turns on a galactic scale that can leave you breathless. In this story, one of Earth's biggest alien enemy's plots against our galactic partners (and therefore, us) isn't truly understood until almost the end of the book. The potential for further books to carry-on more from this story is fertile ground indeed, and I would love to see what Mr. Renneberg would / will? do with it. Well done!
A great sequel to a book that caught me by surprise. It continues to flesh out the universe in an engaging and believable way while providing more than just a rehash of antarran codex. I love the characters and am looking forward to the next one. I would encourage folks to listen to the audible version of antarran codex as they had a great voice actor. I read In Earth's Service in his voice. The author is also reachable on Facebook and responds to message which is pretty cool.
I am really starting to like Renneberg. Once again he has pulled off a fine balance of intrigue and action. The characters remain interesting and continue to develop as the story progresses. The pacing is quick with hardly breaks. This is starting to feel like "John le Carre in space" and I like it.
Good sequel. If you enjoyed the first book you should enjoy this one.
Looking forward to the next book.
Interesting and unique setting. The author gives us enough information to care about the characters. But not so much that it slows the story or the action. A well written space adventure!
+ The author doesn't waste pages explaining a lot about the characters or the setting. If you want that, read the first book.
Finished the book in 12 hours. Could not set it down. Edge of your seat thriller. Definitely wished there was more discourse at the ending, but nonetheless very satisfying and interesting read! Some details were repeated from the first book, and other portions could have been cut out, or made shorter, as they had little significance to the overall plot. Author removed romantic subplot though I think including something with Anya would have been nice, as we only get a teaser towards the ending. Regardless excellent read, highly recommend to all!
